Sandpaper varnish brewery labels for a successful and growing craft brewery.

Forged in 2012 in a converted milking parlour on the untamed edge of Bodmin Moor, North Cornwall, the idea for Firebrand was born from our passion for beer made from all-natural ingredients, Cornish spring water, and American hops. Cornish and proud. Our logo is a chough – the national symbol of Cornwall – perched inside the milking parlour where it all began. Every can, pump clip, t-shirt, and pint glass reminds us of home.

Local production

We are keen to produce as much as possible of our product in Cornwall, Root Labels are our neighbours in Launceston. We wanted high quality, fast turnaround labels that really help sell the quality and ethos of our brand. Being next door it is great to be able to pick up labels on foot from their factory to ours.

Beer labels are often damp, so because of the moisture content and storage temperature, we always produce our labels on a polypropylene material. They are finished with a textured sandpaper varnish to increase the grip on the cans, especially when they are damp. We didn’t want anyone dropping them!

We have collaborated on the richness of the colours and the density of the pigments to ensure bright, consistent colours throughout the range. By adding a spot varnish, we have allowed for the client to add a BBE date during the canning process which gives flexibility to the production throughout the year and reduces waste.
